Monday October 29th 2018 - Day 2601 - Absolutely no care whatsoever

Following the publication of my blog entry on Friday; in which I wrote that the readership of FTM had fallen through the floor, Morrissey (as Dawn Mist) appeared in The Wrong Arms to state, "FTM is dead".

Hilary Hancocks (@hilaryhancocks) replied to Dawn with, "Friday Mourning, how sad", and got the reply, "I'm relieved." - I guess a certain someone did once sing, 'To be finished would be a relief'.

I have long since learnt not to take Mozzer's digs to heart, but I felt the need to point out that if he had only asked, I would have stopped writing this blog thing of mine years ago, to which he replied, "Lies."

In truth, if Morrissey had ever asked me to stop writing this blog, then I would have, or at least I would have written it in private mode, and not make my entries public. However, as only three weeks ago old Mozzer was encouraging me to keep FTM going, I took his, "I'm relieved" with a large pinch of salt.

This large pinch of salt quickly dissolved when Dawn tweeted, "I am the kiss of death", and then blocked me.

As I had been blocked, I decided to take my leave, and tweeted to my followers that I would be leaving as I had become surplus to requirements. No sooner had I posted my tweet than who should arrive but Morrissey, in the guise of our old friend, Broken, tweeting, "See you around".  I replied, "I don't think we frequent the same haunts", to which he came back with, "For example, I need to see hairdressers" (Ed 1-0 to Broken). I came back with, "That's below the belt....which is all you have in that area" (Ed 1-1), to which Broken replied, "Any place you visit is haunted" (2-1 to Broken), so I responded with, "By the ghost of your career" (Ed 2-2). Mozzer replied, "I've not had a career. Decades of struggle."

Broken then started blocking all his followers, including me, and then he disappeared.

I then received a Direct Message from the Dawn Mist account, informing me that, "I have devised a new game."

I replied to say that I presumed the game was to get rid of all the followers and then see who bothered to re-follow. As the Dawn account was 'locked', I made my request to follow, but my request was ignored. I sent another DM on Saturday to ask, "When will you accept myself?" and yesterday at 9.30pm (2.30pm LA time), received a message that read, "16" - WTF does that mean? 16 WHAT? Perhaps it is nothing whatsoever to do with the Twitter account, and is in fact a reference to Day 16 of FTM, or more to the point, the solitary comment left on Day 16 of FTM. It was the first ever comment left by anyone on FTM, and that anyone was 'Poetic Morrissey', who I happen to believe was Morrissey himself. The comment related to something I had written on Day 15 of FTM, about the song Teenage Dad on His Estate - is Morrissey's "16" a clue that Teenage Dad is to be on the upcoming set? Probably not!

As I write this, Dawn has three followers (Heather, EARS and BRS) whilst Broken has reduced his to zero. Goodness only knows what the "new game" is. Ironically, the readership levels of FTM have risen again.

In other news, it has been claimed by a Brazilian newspaper that Morrissey's new Covers album will be titled California Son, which is no doubt a nod to the Ramones song, California Sun, which in itself was a cover. According to the Brazilian newspaper, the Morrissey LP will consist of twelve songs all written by American writers, including of course, Back on the Chain Gang written by Chrissie Hynde. I guess it will be more the Alternative American Songbook as opposed to the Great American Songbook. I read a thought provoking comment the other day that, in reality, every Elvis Presley LP was a covers album, and likewise, every Sinatra album was a covers album. It makes you appreciate even more just how talented a songwriter Morrissey is - The King and Ol' Blue Eyes only had to do half a job!

And finally, excitement continues to grow amongst Morrissey fans on Twitter as the first day of the tour gets ever closer. Both Joe Chiccarelli and Jay Joannides have posted an amusing photo of Gustavo Manzur's guitar case, on which a certain someone has written the words, 'HANDLE WITH ABSOLUTELY NO CARE WHATSOEVER' - Moz is back!
