Day 2464 - Going, going, gone

The songs that I heard at Saturday night's concert are still all bouncing around my head, and needless to say that this week's Wrong Arms Chart is very heavily influenced by Brighton. I forgot to mention in yesterday's blog entry that the only change to the set in Brighton from the previous concert in Brixton, was Judy is a Punk was replaced by All You Need Is Me, so although there was no 'You'll be gone', we did get a, "You're gonna miss me when I'm gone". Coincidentally, although it isn't a set regular, All You Need Is Me was also played the last time I saw Morrissey live, in August 2016. The other songs still in the set from that Bergen concert are: Suedehead, WPINOYB, Sunday, Bullfighter, Jack the Ripper and Irish Blood.

The shows at both Brixton and Brighton featured 21 songs instead of the 22 usually featured, and there were also no band intros. Neither Speedway or I Started Something I Couldn't Finish have been played since Birmingham.

There has been no sign of Mozzer in The Arms, so I have nothing else to add today. For those wondering what happened to my blue rose in Brighton, it was dislodged from my lapel during the surge at the very beginning of The Last of the Famous International Playboys.... a schoolboy error.

And whilst on the subject of blue roses, Youtube footage has now emerged of a blue rose being offered to Morrissey at the beginning of How Soon is Now by Caitlin (@a_m0nster) in Leeds - the rose wasn't taken, but the footage has been added to the Blue Rose Society tumblr by the tumblr master, Jaz, as has a photo of Moz in Brighton with the white rose.

I was rummaging through some old FTM's the other week, when I came across one from April 2016 -  Day 1688 - The Sending Off of Len Shackleton.   The piece was about a line in Big Hard Excellent Fish's Imperfect List  - a track that Morrissey used to play to the audience just prior to coming on stage. My piece from April 2016 didn't manage to come up with a definitive reason as to why the line about Len Shackleton's sending off was included in the Imperfect List, although one of the author's; Morrissey's old mucker, Jake Walters, had let me know that it was an, "in joke" and, "a nod to an old friend of ours designer/artist Vaughn Oliver". Day 2425 - A new Dawn

Monday November 12th 2018 - Day 2615 Life is a Pigsty

As I lay in bed on Sunday night watching Youtube footage of Morrissey's Saturday night concert in San Diego; which incidentally was the last show of the six 'California Specials', I was struck with just how much Morrissey was enjoying himself. He has always said that he lives to be on the stage, but in these six shows he has been absolutely full of energy, offering-up shimmying dance moves, a whole load of mic-cord whipping and; as he aims his lyrics of disdain at all the lying journalists and turn-away former fans, lots of finger pointing, fist punching, and facial grimacing. Morrissey is on fire.
