Day 2345 - I beg your pardon

On Sunday I reported that BRS member, Jo (@LifeisaPigsty_), had sent a dozen blue rose cupcakes to Morrissey at the Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland last Tuesday. I also wrote that we had no idea if Morrissey had actually received them or not, but following my revelation of yesterday that Morrissey's band were rehearsing the song (I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden in Paso Robles, Jo tweeted the following:

"In my cake note I put a line from RG - "Along with the rain there's gotta be a little sunshine sometimes" (switched sunshine/rain) - coincidence?"

There was I thinking that Rose Garden was a simple nod to the BRS, it is far more than that, it is Morrissey's personal thank you to Jo....or at least it would have been if the Paso Robles concert hadn't been cancelled.

I think it is safe to say, Morrissey received the cakes.



Perhaps Morrissey will sing Rose Garden for Jo at the Hollywood Bowl, but I would imagine the set for both the Bowl concerts has been prepared well in advance. If RG doesn't now get an airing, at least Morrissey will now know that Jo knew of his intent. It is yet another 'coincidence' for our very, very long list.

Ten days ago I wrote that I had been tipped the wink that Jacky's Only Happy When She's Up On The Stage would be the next single to come from Low In High School, and that it would be released on November 7th, i.e. today. Last night, the official Moz twitter account tweeted, "Tomorrow..." along with the cover of the new single:



The cover photo is the work of Miron Zownir, and comes from a series of photos of 1980s New York, in a book called NYC RIP.

The addition of '45RPM' on the cover would suggest that it will be released as a 7 inch single. As to whether or not there is a promo CD, I am waiting to hear back from my local radio station friend. The first radio play of the new single is on Jeremy Vine's Radio 2 show this afternoon.

Another tweet was posted by Official Moz yesterday, announcing that the Alexandra Palace show had sold out, and that a London Palladium show had been added. Although I have already seen Moz at the Palladium twice, and although I will be going to see him in Brighton, I must admit that I am very tempted to attend this concert, after all, it was the place where Morrissey gave his first 'on stage nod' to MorrisseysWorld, when in 2011 he entered the stage and announced, 'Welcome to my world'.



There is still hardly any footage of the recent Seattle or San Francisco concerts on Youtube, although footage has emerged of Everyday is Like Sunday from SF, and it is rather amusing. Towards the end of the song, Morrissey helps 'Glittery dress lady' onto the stage, and as she clamps herself around his neck, Moz sings to Jesse to get her off. As she is placed back into the audience, another man decides to try and fly towards the stage, but unsurprisingly, fails. You don't get this sort of fandom at a Madonna concert, and certainly not at an Ed Dreer-un one.

I was rummaging through some old FTM's the other week, when I came across one from April 2016 -  Day 1688 - The Sending Off of Len Shackleton.   The piece was about a line in Big Hard Excellent Fish's Imperfect List  - a track that Morrissey used to play to the audience just prior to coming on stage. My piece from April 2016 didn't manage to come up with a definitive reason as to why the line about Len Shackleton's sending off was included in the Imperfect List, although one of the author's; Morrissey's old mucker, Jake Walters, had let me know that it was an, "in joke" and, "a nod to an old friend of ours designer/artist Vaughn Oliver". Monday November 12th 2018 - Day 2615 Life is a Pigsty

As I lay in bed on Sunday night watching Youtube footage of Morrissey's Saturday night concert in San Diego; which incidentally was the last show of the six 'California Specials', I was struck with just how much Morrissey was enjoying himself. He has always said that he lives to be on the stage, but in these six shows he has been absolutely full of energy, offering-up shimmying dance moves, a whole load of mic-cord whipping and; as he aims his lyrics of disdain at all the lying journalists and turn-away former fans, lots of finger pointing, fist punching, and facial grimacing. Morrissey is on fire.
