Monday October 1st 2018 - Day 2573 - Dim the lights
Charles Aznavour has died, Morrissey mourns, and a statement on Morrissey Central gives us another 'coincidence' for our list - more about that later.
It would appear that I was wrong yesterday, when I wrote that I didn't think we would see Our Mozzer in The Wrong Arms again before the new tour, which starts in Ventura in 30 days time. OM (as @BRSChairman) called in again today, and when news broke that Charles Aznavour had died, our old friend Broken (as @BrokenDeviant) suddenly turned up as well - having taken over the @FeebleFedelma account.
Before the announcement of Aznavour's death, Morrissey exchanged tweets with some of the regulars, but once the announcement of the death came, the Chairman left, and Broken took over. The Chairman account returned later in the day, but this time as..... DAWN MIST (@FlightDawnMist)! - the whole gang were on parade.
Here are some of today's OM tweets as BRS Chairman:
"Alone and denude. Bereft of inspiration." - I know exactly how he feels!
Deborah Bartlett (@bartlettpr) replied to the above calling it a, "temporary blip", to which M replied:
"Temporary denotes a time where it shall lift. One does not remain convinced. It has been happening for a long time now."
Matt Starling (@matt_starling) asked, "Is there ever a muse involved, and got the reply:
"Once. Never again."
"One has come to realise that one is just a standard deviant."
OM announced the death of Aznavour by posting a portrait of him, along with the words:
"My sadness knows no bounds."

The arrival of Broken cheered me up no end. God, how I have missed this acidic bitch. For those who may be new to Broken, he is the side of Morrissey that just doesn't give a fuck about ANYTHING or ANYONE. We have lost a fair few people from this journey of ours over the years because of their inability to understand Broken. Those who try to take him on, or take his words to heart, lose!
I won't bother to report all of Broken's tweets, which in the main were just random attacks on individuals, but here are a few highlights:
"In a world where Sophie Pelvis Bexter remains alive we have lost a true icon. I personally blame her. Cunt."
CUNT
"Some people have a higher level of personal difference. I am the apogee of human existence. You are all the nadir."
"I am box office poison."
Broken welcomed me by saying, "Two cunts are better than one. Only on twitter mind you." When I replied with, "I am touched", he came back with, "Don't be. I wouldn't touch you with a burqa on." I, rather wittingly, told him that he would look good in a burqa, but he trumped this by coming back with, "I look good in anything. You'd look good in a morgue."
In response to the news that Geoffrey Hayes of Rainbow fame had died:
"Children can finally sigh with relief."
In response to someone offering thoughts and prayers to George and Bungle:
"I always wondered what happened to the other two from The Smiths."
Twitter user Vrit (@november291968) got most of Broken's acidity, but in fairness, she put up a good fight, especially when Broken shot her lines such as:
"I am not here to educate you mainly because you are below the intellectual standard for basic education. How you have managed to gather the wherewithal to create an account here baffles me. Please go back to crayons and dribbling on your sleeve." - it isn't every day (everyday?) you get to read the word wherewithal!
Broken then posted a number of topless Justin Bieber pictures - some things never change! When EARS (@AIRRAID25) drew reference to the Bieb pictures, Broken tweeted, "May his youthful spunk accentuate your dark hours." - one had to smile!
Dawn Mist's tweets of this afternoon were mainly seagull and lighthouse related, so I won'tt republish them, especially as this blog entry is already becoming quite long, but one tweet in particular was particularly relevant. In reply to @mancladmozfan tweeting that it was sad news about Charles Aznavour, Dawn tweeted, "The lighthouse is forever in mourning." More about this later.
Now that the two Twitter accounts are open again, I have been able to catch-up on all the tweets I missed on Saturday, and I realised that I had missed Moz tweeting last Wednesday when the Alf/Chairman/Dawn account was still under the name @Alfsbutton. The tweet read:
"All that matters is the mind" - One must presume from this tweet that both the infamous quiff and the toned body have finally gone for a Burton.
Here is Saturday's session from The Arms:
MOZ (as @FeebleFedelma): I am a work in progress.
MOZ (as @BRSChairman): @FeebleFedelma I have seen you without your face on. Work in progress is a far flung compliment indeed.
FED: Look what the cats dragged in. The ever unpopular Chairman. The BRS is dead darling.
MOZ (as Chairman): I cannot be dragged anywhere, as well you know. You, however, are dragged hither and tither until your wits wither and you begin to dither.
MAI (@poppymai7): You should become a rapper
MOZ: In a certain way I am. Can you not hear a social conscience in my lyrics? In the voice? In the walk? In an arched eyebrow?
MAI: Yes yes yes I do. You give Cardi B a run for her money
MOZ: Who?
MAI: Oh, she's this really intelligent artist, dead creative and that.
MOZ: The only way I'll be called creative is when dead.
MORRISSEY AND CARDI B ARE THE HEADLINERS OF NEXT MONTH'S TROPICALIA FESTIVAL
I won't bother with all the other tweets from Saturday, although I should add that I was correct in my assumption of yesterday that Morrissey had criticised my parody of last Thursday; he wrote, "This is an abomination. A sickness thrown from the mind of an imbecile. Is this what passes for entertainment in my absence?"
Here are a few of the other highlights from Saturday:
"@TessDaly somehow has a prime time tv presenting job. People really are correct when they say BBC stands for Bland Beyond Compare"
"Some people suffer from seasonal lowness. They should try seminal lowness. It's much worse but you are dressed in ironic wealth."
"I've just been alerted that it is a Saturday night and apparently you may all have lives. Or pastimes. Or are watching x factory. Please stop this futile activity immediately and converse with a seminal iconic." (Ed - it was the X Factory option that led to me missing M in The Arms!)
"Technically I haven't been away. Just lurking. Watching. Despairing."
In reply to Heather (@heathercat222) asking, "Despairing at what?": "My reflection. Life. My reflection on life. Life on reflection."
"You turn phrases and I turn heads."
In reply to Deborah Bartlett asking if M was in irascible mood: "I'm in the mood for prolix."
"All life is despair. We know this. We accept this. It does not make it easier."
And now to that Morrissey Central statement regarding Charles Az and the 'coincidence'. The statement was published just after 5pm today, 40 minutes after Dawn's tweet about the lighthouse being forever in mourning. The Moz Central statement is titled......Dim The Lights, and the photo that has been published on Moz Central is VERY similar to the one tweeted by Moz at 1.42pm.
In the Moz Central statement, Morrissey states, "A few years ago I invited him to sing on my album World peace is none of your business. He listened, but declined - a wise man, indeed! Music lasts longer than life, and Charles Aznavour is music: now, today, tomorrow and always."
Moz has since taken to Twitter DM (as Dawn - although it could have been any of the others!) and told me that the statement holds a clue to an upcoming song on the set of the new tour. Unless it's a bluff, I think we can safely presume that Shoplifters of the World will be on the set....and maybe the mention of World Peace means we'll get Oboe Concerto.
I am also reminded today of Mademoiselle Fifi hinting that Morrissey was going to go and see Aznavour in concert in 2015. Two days later Morrissey told his audience in Paris that he would be going.
That will do for today - it's been quite action packed. Let me leave you all with a link to Day 383 of FTM - October 1st 2012. Coincidentally it had Bieber references, X Factor references and tweets from Morrissey, but the main reason I am linking it is because it is the day I mentioned that Kyle wanted to be the first person to get a blue rose to Morrissey - which he achieved nine days later!
